Drum sample making. Steinberg Backbone creates a characterful and unique drum sound through resynthesis. Steinberg has released the Steinberg Backbone percussion tool. According to the developers, the new plugin promises to simplify the unique layered drum sound making process thanks to samples and resynthesis.

The sound of working drums starts with importing samples. After downloading the file, the user can perform spectral resynthesis of the original signal to create a new, classy sound. Backbone supports once to eight samples per sound, producing unusual, overwhelming, and unique signals. Each layer can be processed in the effects and filters section.

With the help of decomposition, you can combine separate parts of the sample, independently controlling the other parameters of each layer. Steinberg can note that Backbone doesn't restrict users in processing: you can adjust the filtering, altitude, signal decay time, as well as its amplification features. At the end of the signal flow there are two stacks of effects for post-processing of the sample.

It offers by presenting a single window interface - all controls are collected in one window, making it easy to work. According to one product creator Florian Haack, the main challenge developers set for backbone is the ease of manipulating sound.
